In the fall of 2021, my Junior year at NC State, I took an African American Cinema course and for my final exam we were to create a Media Project which we chose between three essay prompts and created a multimedia project to expand on this theme. The prompts directed us to show how certain themes were exhibited in our readings using the many films we had watched that semester.

I focused on the theme of “Love and Hate” which was captured in the film Do the Right Thing, and in doing so I took this theme and explored how it was also depicted in three other films from our semester which were Moonlight, Carmen Jones, and Boyz n the Hood.
